I've never been very good at eating humble pie, it just always leaves a nasty after taste. In the end I knew I had to do something, so on the way home from work one day I spied a public phone, my cell had a flat battery so I parked up and dialed her and waited.... my heart was thumping, my mouth was dry, the expectation was killing me.... but what the hell was that noise behind me?

Oil on Canvas

I found out yesterday that B[ELLE]isima is closing down inworld (cue sad face at hearing of yet another designer pulling up stumps) and other than Elle putting everything up on sale, I wanted to go down and grab another kilt. It's probably my Scottish heritage talking, but I really wanted one.

I also tried something new this time around and went for more of an oil painting look, you know, the kind you would see above a fireplace. I figured it fitted well with the outfit and the background I chose and this was the result:

She Ripped My Heart Out - Part VI: Time Out

In the end I kind of figured I needed some time out, some time away to cleanse my soul (and my liver). The beach has always had a cathartic effect on me, growing up and spending endless summers at the beach had set a pattern to my life. It was my escape and right now it was just what I needed...

The sound of the surf, the feeling of the water as it swirled around me and the sand between my toes, it all started to make sense. I knew what I had to do.

When I was young, a kid, people often talked about the end. "The world is going downhill,fast" , my old man used to say, "And there's no way to stop it." Of course, I didn't fully understand that then, but I could still feel, and see the poverty and misery we lived in. By the time I was born, the world was slowly falling in disarray. Wars being fought at every step, water reserves diminishing, inflation. Then, the nuclear war started. We never knew who launched the first missiles.

But that doesn't even matter now, the Mechs came next. Some say they were created by the Steamers but no one knows for sure. They were human once, but not any more. Now they just hunt and kill, leaving only devastation in their wake.

She Ripped my Heart Out - Part V: Life As A Blur

It seems sometime between then and now, one night after a few sherbets it was decided for me it was time for some ink! It's not a decision process I recall with a whole lot of clarity, although the result seems clear enough now...

I do remember waking up the next day with my self medication surrounding me and a fair amount of tingling discomfort wondering what, why, how and then finally... WTF!!

The night before must have been awesome.... that's right isn't it?

the Joker

I recently finished the Zombie Popcorn hunt and one of the gifts was a Joker mask, reminiscent of Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight - it didn't take me long to think of how I could use it and below is my humble attempt at honouring an actor taken long before his time and a bloke from my own home town, literally just down the road.
